Introduction of 100 Bilingual Picture Books for Vietnamese Children in Japan

During the press conference on October 14, Kamitani Naoko, First Secretary and Head of the Press and Culture Department at the Embassy of Japan to Vietnam, announced the launch of Ehon Week. This event consists of various book introductions and reading activities for children and their parents. Ehon Week is organized in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21, 1973 – September 21, 2023). It is organized by the Bac Cau Foundation with the support of the Japanese Embassy and the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Vietnam. Vietnam Post issues new stamp collection on Vietnamese cuisine

The stamp sets feature four local dishes, including banh mi, a type of Vietnamese sandwich, banh xeo, crispy Vietnamese pancake, com tam, broken rice, and banh khot, mini savory pancakes. A stamp featuring banh khot costs VND19,000, while the price of the three remaining stamps stands at VND4,000 each. The stamp collection has been designed by artist Nguyen Du from Vietnam Post Corporation and will be available on the public postal network until June 30, 2024. The release of the stamps comes as part of efforts aimed at honouring the beauty of Vietnamese culinary culture and introducing Vietnamese cuisine to international friends through postage stamps. An exhibition, entitled “Traditional Customs”, at the Hanoi Museum shows the elegant lifestyle of Hanoians in the old time, from home decoration, to costumes and traditional rituals on holidays. Exhibition features President Ho Chi Minh’s love towards Hanoi capital

This is an activity marking 35 years of UNESCO Resolution honouring President Ho Chi Minh (1890-1990) – a Hero of National Liberation and a Great Man of Culture of Vietnam; and the 68th Liberation Day of Hanoi (October 10). With more than 150 photos, documents and excerpts and dozens of artifacts and precious books related to the late President, the exhibition features memories between President Ho Chi Minh with the capital city, as well as monuments and statues of the leader in Vietnam and around the world. In Vietnam, there are currently about 700 monuments, 30 statues and squares and more than 100 monuments dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh. Meanwhile, 35 monuments, statues, schools, roads, parks and museums named after the late leader of Vietnam in 22 nations around the world such as Russia, France, Cuba, India, China, Laos and Thailand. Vietnam asks Netflix to block South Korean TV drama ‘Little Women’ over history distortions

Le Quang Tu Do, head of the Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information under the Ministry of Information and Communications, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Tuesday afternoon that the agency already sent a request to Netflix Inc. on Monday regarding the removal of the ‘Little Women’ TV series from the streaming service. Do claimed that the South Korean TV show was requested to be taken off the air for violating Vietnam’s laws regulating media and cinema for falsifying history, downplaying revolutionary accomplishments, and insulting the Vietnamese nation. He did not elaborate further. The alleged violations are depicted in episodes three and eight from 58:01 to 58:22 minutes and 5:41 to 7:01 minutes, respectively, when actors mention the American war in Vietnam.
