Belgian MPs Push for Draft Resolution to Back Vietnamese Victims of Agent Orange

Photo: VNA The Belgian Chamber of Representatives held a hearing on June 20 to discuss a draft resolution in support of Vietnamese Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin, according to a report by VNA. The hearing was led by Els Van Hoof, the Head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Belgian Parliament, and was well-attended by numerous MPs. At the session, Vietnamese Ambassador Nguyen Van Thao provided an overview of the policies, action programs, and plans for supporting war victims in Vietnam. He also highlighted the close collaboration between Vietnam and the US in resolving the consequences of war. Saved Monitor Lizard at Tourism Spot in South-Central Vietnam Averted Endangerment

The lizard weighs approximately five kilograms. Pham Minh Nhut, vice-chairman of the Nha Trang – Khanh Hoa Tourism Association, stated on Wednesday that employees at the Dac Nhan Tam tourist site in Dien Xuan Commune, under Dien Khanh District, discovered the lizard four days ago. The employees retrieved the monitor from the lake and took care of it. They promptly reported the situation to the Dien Khanh forest protection division and the Dien Xuan Commune administration. “The management board of the tourist site will collaborate with rangers to release the lizard into the Hon Ba Nature Reserve this weekend,” stated Nhut. The clouded monitor has a gray body with numerous yellow spots, according to the Dien Khanh forest protection division. The clouded monitor, scientifically known as Varanus nebulosus, is classified in Group IB, the list of endangered species of forest animals that are strictly forbidden for exploitation and commercial purposes, according to the division. First Vietnamese Restaurants Receive Michelin Star Ratings

Hanoi’s Gia, Tam Vi, and Hibana by Koki were awarded one star at an awards ceremony in the Vietnamese capital city on Tuesday. Along with Anan Saigon in Ho Chi Minh City, they were the only restaurants to receive a one-star rating. Michelin’s rating system defines one Michelin Star as ‘high quality cooking, worth a stop.’ In addition to the one-star recipients, Anna Saigon is the only restaurant in Vietnam featured among the 50 best eateries in Asia, according to food and beverage specialist 50 Best. Michelin Star restaurants are recognized in The Michelin Guide, a guidebook published annually that reviews exceptional restaurants worldwide. Alongside the one-star awards, 99 other restaurants in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City were honored with Michelin Selected and Bib Gourmand Awards. The Michelin Selected list includes 32 restaurants in Hanoi and 38 in Ho Chi Minh City, while the Bib Gourmand group comprises 29 eateries, 13 in Hanoi and 16 in Ho Chi Minh City.
